St Malachy’s Pupils Represent School at Closing of Congress

27th Mar 2026

We were delighted to accept an invitation from Bishop Michael Router to attend the Closing of Congress on Sunday. Five of our Primary 5 pupils: Molly, Connie, Ríodhna, Willow and Sophie, proudly represented St Malachy’s, Camlough at this very special celebration.

As part of the entrance procession, the children carried the St Malachy’s icon, commissioned by Brona Frame, to the altar. They did so with great care and respect, with Archbishop Eamon Martin walking behind them in the procession. He spoke very highly of the children and was extremely complimentary of the reverence and confidence they displayed throughout.

A special word of thanks to Liam McArdle, who kindly provided a beautiful photograph of the children with the icon and Archbishop Eamon Martin.

This was a very proud moment for St Malachy’s, and we commend our Primary 5 pupils for representing the school with such maturity and dignity.
