Slieve Gullion Dolls’ House

1st Apr 2026

During March we were exploring art inspired by the story of The Slieve Gullion Dolls’ House, a beautiful and historic miniature house which was crafted by a local man, John Graham, in the early 1900’s. John Graham left Camlough in 1923, aged 25, to travel to New Jersey to seek work. He travelled on the Baltic Ship that left from Liverpool. The children had great fun making their own boats, carefully choosing materials and discussing which ones might float best- we are excited to test them and see the results after the Easter holidays! The children discussed what they would take with them, as well as how they might feel leaving home on a long journey across the Atlantic. The children also painted the Dolls’ House and used Just2Easy software to design their own imaginative versions. To round off the month and celebrate Easter, we enjoyed making delicious chocolate nest buns together and took part in a fun Easter egg hunt.

Wishing you all a very happy and holy Easter.
