Primary 5 Showcase Creative RMS Baltic Models at Schools Art Exhibition
As part of the Schools Community Project, Primary 5 have been exploring the fascinating story behind the Slieve Gullion Dolls House. This intricate piece was originally crafted by John Graham for Marie Josephine Doyle before he emigrated to New York.
To learn more about John’s journey across the Atlantic, the children discovered that he travelled to America in 1923 aboard the RMS Baltic, a White Star Line ocean liner. Inspired by this historic voyage, Primary 5 designed and built their own detailed models of the RMS Baltic using recyclable materials.
Today, the class proudly displayed their finished ships at the Schools Art Exhibition, showcasing their creativity, craftsmanship, and growing understanding of local history. Their work highlights not only their artistic talents but also their enthusiasm for learning about real stories from the past.
Well done, Primary 5, on a fantastic achievement!
