Hour of Code

7th Dec 2018

On Wednesday 5th December, 2532 students in 86 classrooms throughout Ireland learnt how to code thanks to the 175 Microsoft employees who travelled to their classrooms to deliver an Hour of Code. I was delighted to facilitate an Hour of Code to 33 great students at my old primary school, St. Malachy’s, Camlough, Armagh.

Having the chance to open up the doors to a new skill like coding to students is so rewarding. It also gives students the ability to develop their computational and critical thinking, empowering them to become creators of the next generation.

I would like to thank my former Principal, Jim Kearns and former teacher, Orla Woods for letting me facilitate the session. I got great value in seeing the students solve puzzles on the day and the advice I left to them was to ‘Keep On Coding’.
