ArtsEkta Inclusion and Cultural Diversity
Today, our P5/6 pupils welcomed the first of three exciting visits from ‘ArtsEkta’. The session was led by Orla, who shared a range of powerful and thought‑provoking stories from ‘Still I Rise Stories’. Through these stories, the children explored the idea that our identity is what makes each of us unique.
The pupils took part in meaningful discussions about how being different can help us stand out and why it is important to be true to ourselves. They reflected on the message that every individual is unique, beautiful and capable of making a positive difference in the world. The children listened attentively to the story ‘Weird and Wonderful You’, which encouraged them to celebrate their own individuality. They enjoyed discussing the similarities and differences between themselves and their classmates, fostering respect and understanding.
Orla then read the story ‘Where Are You From?’, which prompted thoughtful conversations about culture and how our backgrounds, experiences and traditions help to shape who we are. The session provided the children with a valuable opportunity to reflect on diversity, identity and inclusion in a supportive and engaging way. We look forward to continuing this learning journey during the next ArtsEkta visits.
